Creating Comic Strips

In this lesson we covered mixing colors, making a comic strip, and vocabulary such as setting and point of view. My particular comic strip was about an ant experiencing problems because he was so small and wanted to play kickball. I focused on the facial expressions in each frame to show how the ant was feeling. I then ended the comic with the ant finding a pebble that he could play kickball with. This story showed that when things get tough you need to adapt and move on, being as positive as you can. An extension activity I would include with this would be to have the students write a story about their comic strip, focusing on emotion words and the feelings displayed in each frame.
