Elements and Principles of Design Composition

I had the elements pattern and texture. I used foil as the main texture, construction paper, marker, paint, and sand to create my project. I have always liked prints, and wanted to work with zebra print as my irregular pattern. To incorporate texture I decided to use aluminum foil to give the artwork a raised/texture look by crinkling it up into a ball, then painting it with tempera paint. I also included green and purple sand to give it more of a textured look. I think that my artwork was a success in displaying the principle and element I had. Many students in the class could not depict what my elements were because I used many other elements throughout the project. Next time I will be sure to keep it more simple in the amount of elements to use, but I loved how the final project turned out and will definitely use something like this in my classroom.
This lesson/project could be done in many other ways, but I liked how we divided each element and principle for the students in class. This may be difficult to combine with other subjects, but another way to complete this in class would be to focus on one element and principle and have each student do their own rendition of it, then have them compare with the other students.
